Back to Lima but Again

(Posted from Quito, Ecuador on Sunday)

Just for completeness.  After finishing the hiking until now I am a complete basket case.  I am very confused.  In fact I lost my wallet twice in the last 24 hours.  First I left in the restaurant in the hotel in Cusco (they gave it to me a breakfast time, I was not aware it was missing).  The next morning (today, Saturday) after flying back to Lima, I left the hotel for a walk about Lima.  After going 100 M, I thought I should return to the hotel to get them to book a cab for me for the next day to take me to the airport (I debated doing this after finishing my day).  As I walked back I noticed a black object on the side walk.  I picked it up and discovered it was my wallet.  If this is not proof that God and Lorna are watching out for me, tell me what you need for evidence.   After losing my wallet the second time I get the message.

Spent the morning organizing my stuff.  My sense (hope) is that I won´t be needing my cold clothing for a while.  What a joy to put that stuff aside.  So looking forward to being on the water on the equator, not at 2700 M and in the cold and whatever.  Nice havng a nothing morning.

Other than have a McDonald´s Big Mac meal (sometimes you just need something you know) I have spend 5 and a half hours doing the blogs for the Inca Trail and Machu Pichuu.

After blogging for so long, I left the internt cafe and came across a Catholic church that was open.  There was a mass and wedding happening so I sat in and imagined what was being said.  First mass in a long time, felt very good.

July 28 is the national holiday of independence from Spain.  Year was 1821 or there about; Peru has been an indepedent country for a long time, and a struggling democracy for the past 30 years.  From the outside it seems still a young capitalist democracy, citizens do not appear constrained in their behaviours.  Everywhere there are flags, the Peruvians are very proud off their country and the recent prosperity due to high prices of minerals, which the country is rich in.

The weather in Lima was indeed grey and overcast again (the same for all 3 days I have been here so it must be true what they say about the weather being dull for so look and I can imagine it could get to you after a while).

Early to bed again tonight for tomorrow another adventure, this time the Gulapogos. Guaranteed limited hiking or physical emersion, a nice reprieve before Africa and back into the trick of it.
