KKH - Gilgit

Text written in: English

Enjoyed a bearkfast in the base camp, we hiked up to a very steep hill like goat. Up the hill we can have a panoramic view to the area around. And we can see the summit of Rakaposhi from there. On the way down we needed to pass through a ice flat, which made my feet felt freezing. The cons of wearing sandals.

We went down very fast, arrived the camp site at about 1:30pm. Anouk suggested we might cut short our trip and try to reach Gilgit in the same day, in fact there was nothing to do in hte camp site, no books, no MP3... We then keep going down and arrived Gilgit at the evening.

Stayed in Gilgit one day for a rest. Gilgit is not a very nice place, at least I didn't feel nice. Armed militaries everywhere, people were not as nice as in the northern region, but they were still friendly. I went to buy a bus ticket to Basham at the NATCO office, the staffs were so strange. They asked me to take a VIP service, when I told them I prefer a normal one, they then leave me alone and doing nothing, just sitting there talking to each other. Until I agreed to take the VIP bus, they suddenly became very efficient. Issuing ticket, collecting money, done everything just in a minute.
