Long Bus Journey...
Text written in: English
556km, in O'zbekistan it will take about 6 hours. But here, it take two days.
When I arrived the transportation hub at about 7:40am, I'd told that it was too late, there was no more bus to Khorog, I have to come again tomorrow 6:00am. I was so frustrated. I don't want to go back to hotel and doing nothing for the day in Dushanbe. I sat there and hope something will happen late, after about 20 minutes, the man who asked me to come again tomorrow came back and saw me still sitting there, he then try to find some other driver to see who willing to go, and he found one. One of the minibus driver willing to go, and fortunately(?) the flight from Duahsnbe to Khorog was cancelled due to weather condition, some people came here from airport to find transportation, so the minibus filled up quickly. We left Dushanbe at about 10:30am.
It was a 9 years old (looks like 30 years) Russian minibus, unfortunately, it has almost any kind of car problem that you can imagine. Then, we needed to stop every two hours to fix some of the problem, Supposed we should reach Kalaikhum for a staying a night, but until 1:00am we were still away from there. It was definitely not a good idea to cross the Khaburabot Pass at night. So we found a closed restaurant to have a short sleep. 4:00am we started to cross Khaburabot Pass, the scenery was beautiful.
After Kalaikhum, the road was along the Pyanj River. In the other side of the river, it is Afghanistan. We can see some Afghan people riding donkey getting around. In the Tajik side there are many car running on the road, but in the other side there is only a donkey trail... Tajik people are so pound of this.
Finally we arrived Khorog before dark. It took two days for less than 600km journey. However, the local ladies on the minibus were joking and laughing all the time, made the journey full of fun.
