Border crossing is always the interesting thing to do. This time I took 7 hours to cross the border.
I arrived Uzbek side of the border at about 9:00am, but the border wasn't open, nobody know what was going on, even the border guards. They said there was some problem on the Tajik side. Then, a long wait under the sun and without food til afternoon. I was tired and hungry, so I decided to go back to Samarkand at 4:00pm if they are not intended to open, and try again on the next day. Fortunately, the border open at about 3:30pm to let some foreign tourist to pass. Then, finally, I arrived Penjikent at about 5:00pm, but it was too late to catch transportation to Dushanbe, there is a scenic road, it's no reason to travel at night time. I have to stay one night in Penjikent, in a dodgy Soviet style hotel, 20 dollars per a room with no water. (It was a lux hotel 30 years ago though.)
It was a long hard day. But anyway, I am in Tajikistan.
