Tashkent

Text written in: English

Won a battle, crossed the border without hassle. Got to Tashkent city at about 1:00pm. stayed in Gulnara B&B, which is a very nice guesthouse. Since left Beijing on 22th, I'd travelled thousands of kilometers in just 7 days, it is so good to have a nice place for a rest.

Today (31-May) I'd got my Kyrgyz visa in here, Tashkent, cost me $55, about 1/4 of the price that the embassy in Beijing charged. Now I'd got all the visas I needed for my trip. (excepted The Caucasus region).

Tashkent is the largest city in Central Asia, with huge number of uniformed man everywhere. I'd ever seen such many police in one place, and it's absolutely impossible to get rid of them. Lucky, I didn't bother at all, may be I am look like local Uzbek. Tashkent has a Russian style metro system in the city, the only one in Central Asia, which is good for the first time travellers, although I don't understand Russian I have no problem to get around by it.

It seemed the big city always boring to me, I can't find any more interesting things here. Buying a train ticket to Bukhara was easy, there is a English speaking window in the ticket office.
