THE WORLD BY ROAD

Text written in: English

For some of you this will be old news, but for the rest of you
including the guy sitting next to me at the Internet café which
continues to keep looking at my computer screen this will all be new.
I am back in Sydney Australia; some of you might be asking, "What's
Jimmy doing in Australia?" The reason I am here is because I am
setting out on yet another adventure. This time we are calling it an
expedition, that's right it's a 2year driving around the world
expedition that's being sponsored by Toyota. But before I go any
further let me explain how I got here. As most of you already know I
like to travel. I just recently finished a 2 year trip around the
world and since then I have spent the last year back in Los Angeles
working as an Executive Producer by day and dreaming of traveling by
night. I knew since the first day I set foot back in LA that this was
going to be a short lived visit just long enough to save some money
and come up with a plan. After almost a year of working the money part
was taken care of but still no plan. That's when I met the Steve's,
yes that's right they are both named Steve. So now I call one of them
Bouey which is his last name, and the ironic thing is when I was a kid
my uncle called me Bouey after some guy named Jim Bouey. Anyway so
this is a name I wont forget. The two Steve's have been planning this
expedition for about 2 years now.  It's a long story how I actually
met the Steve's but needless to say when they started the trip they
drove from Denver Colorado to Los Angeles, from LA they shipped the
Toyota trucks to Sydney where the real start of the expedition will
take place. During their brief stopover in LA we met up for a drink
and before I knew it I was quitting my 185k a year job (A) I never

thought I would make that kind of money and (B) I never thought I
would give it up for some trip. But this isn't your everyday run of
the mill trip, this is a once in a lifetime experenice that most
people will never get and only dream of..... So how could I pass that
up? And to be honest that high paying job/career field I left behind
isn't what I wanted to do anyway. I have learned now no matter how
much money you make if your not happy doing it... what's the point? Life
is too short to waste away in some miserable job. This trip is the
jump-start that I need (the kick the ass). I am closing the chapter in
my life called "Hollywood" I moved to LA when I was 19 and I'm now 29.
I have spent the last 10 years of my life producing TV and Film and
now I can say with 100% conviction that this isn't the life for me.
But what I am saying is that I am opening a new chapter in my life.
It's said that people change career fields 3 or 4 times in ones life,
this will be only my 2nd. Traveling has been a dream of mine since I
was a kid; maybe the reason for my undying thirst for adventure and
new cultures comes from me growing up in Florida the retirement
capital of the United States where it's not necessary filled with
worldly people. Everyone was white, international cuisine was Taco
Bell. So I am now setting off to make it on the road as a
freelance Photojournalist / Travel Writer / Documentary Filmmaker.
This trip with the Steve's is the prefect starting point, as we will
be filming and writing about the entire journey. My expertise as a
producer/director should come in handy as the Discovery Channel Is
already expressed interest on turning this into a TV series. But more
importantly I will be acting as a part of the crew helping with
day-to-day stuff from navigating to cooking to bribing corrupt
policemen. This trip is bound to be filled with unforgettable stories
and unimaginable obstacles. So keep in touch by checking out our main
site www.theworldbyroad.com and also on here for my personal account
from the road.

Let the journey begin!!!!!

Jimmy
