A town called Alice

The next morning we managed to get a little bit of a lie in (7.30am)…. I think this was to make up for the 9 hour journey ahead of us. Jonny, our tour guide thought of different things to keep us occupied on the road- we had a game of battles of the sexes, where I had to ask a complete stranger in the middle of the desert how to get to Jerusalem and the boys had to lick a termite mound…. Which is basically poo!!?????? I also learnt a little German, Japanese and Korean and made lots of lifelong friends!

Through seemingly endless miles of dead flat plains that are typical of the outback we were about to start climbing the walls with boredom, we saw a smallish hill breaking up the landscape… Civilization ….. Or not!!!

Alice Springs is a ran down town in the middle of nowhere and we have 3 full days to kill. The population is made up of aboriginals whom walk around slowly with their heads down, as though they have no zest for life, no energy, too weak….or drunk to be happy or even smile. Many sported round bellies and no teeth! That evening we had a chance to get a hot shower and get drunk….. And that we did.
