Heading off to the Islands 1st stop Koh Lanta

After spending a week in Bangkok, perhaps slightly longer (i've lost count) and much thought (there were too many islands to chose from) we decided to head out to Koh Lanta. We took a vip bus from Bangkok to Surhtthani? then another bus to Krabi from which we travelled by many means of transport all over the place until we arrived many hours delayed in our destination. The only way i can describe this place is that it looks like the location in which "lost" is set in. Palm trees adorning the sidewalk, pure blue sky, and lush greenery all round. As soon as we stepped off the bus we were quickly approached by a man and a woman each representing two different hotel/guesthouses trying to persuade us to go with one. We decided to go for the Lanta Sunny House, a bungalow on stilts for 300b per night. The beach was only a 2min walk away and it was such a nice feeling to walk over the sand for the first time in a long while. We stayed at this resort for 3 nights, on one day we chose to rent out a moped/motorbike probably the former. We just about managed to cruise around 100m before i started to complain that my jaw felt like it was about to drop off from the poor suspension. Little did we know until many trucks beeped us that we had a completely flat back tyre! Made our way back to hotel, trying to explain the situation, only to be told that we had to pay for the damage (this was already done before hand - but it looked inflated.) Was furious and started to kick up a fuss but the two women just ignored me so we left the next day. After visting the reggae bar (very kool and chilled out) we met 3 girls from london/bristol who reccommended the Blue Andaman. It was quite far up towards the local village but when we arrived at what resembled a 5* hotel, that wasnt an issue. For 450b - around 6/7gbp we were staying in a luxorious room, with tv and aircon, had the most amazing views of the ocean and scattered palm trees, was right on the beach front, and had a swimming pool. I was in my element, wondered why it took us so long to go there! After the diasatarous motorbike incident we found another local rental place and hired out another for the day. It was so kool, Alex took to the bike like a duck to water! He was so the cruiser leaning back enjoying the wind throw dust in his eyes! This time we went on a big adventure, exploring all the hidden beaches off the main roads and heading to the hills. Was probably the highlight of Koh Lanta.
