Hey everyone, Managed to find a few internet cafes today (13th) so am
able to write this blog. On the 11th we left Dehli after staying at the
wonderful Moon Palace Hotel (best nights sleep in a while!) for
Jhunjhunu which would be the 1st of many stops on our tour of
Rajasthan. It took about 5 hours to reach - wasn't many places of
interest to view along the way. Stopped for lunch at a palace, after
being refused to see the ordinary menu we were left with the only
option to eat a lunch buffet for 280R set price. Wasnt impressed with
the food nor cost. Arrived at our hotel - Hotel Shiv Shawatari? which
seemed to be in the middle of nowhere, spent most of the time in our
rooms since storms flooded the streets! Spent one night there and in
the morning we visited the Rani Satu Temple where i drank holy water
(looked like oil) and ate sugar before being 'welcomed' with an orange
bindi. Left soon after for our next stop - Bikaner. This was a 6/7hour
journey through the desert, was very overcast and drizzly. Last night
we arrived around 7pm. The hotel is amazing, luxury compared to what
we'll have to endure over the next few months.. Bathroom was brand
spanking new with a sit down toilet and power shower. Was jumping for
joy at this stage! Over a bathroom - how sad! Ate dinner at the
restuarant and prices seemed ok. Had a great sleep once more and today
we've been to see the Laragh Palace (and hotel) spent 40R to look
around the museum only to have a guide that didnt seem to understand
nor speak any english. Little did we know we'd be bored senseless. Also
visited the red fort where we didnt bother to go inside, knowing that
the other was overated we saved our pennies and took photos of the
grounds and gardens. Went bk to our hotel where we had lunch. Have
spent most of the afternoon lounging on the balcony outside our room
doing my crosswords! Just had dinner and am now updating you with our
tales! Really wasnt much to say but tomorrow should be an experience
i'll never forget in a hurry. We are visting the famous rat temple
which is on the way to Jodhpur. Apparently its crawling with the
rodents and they tend to run over your bare feet.. I hate the sight of
rats let alone seeing them in the flesh nibbling on my toes! I'll have
to tell you all about it when we next have a chance to speak! Photos
should be uploaded today if not soon. Bye for now! x x x
