I’m very excited to be back in Ireland….we had a ball in Dublin last year, so looking forward to what Northern Ireland has to offer! Apart from work, we’d only been to the gym, so a day trip out was much in need…
Matt and myself offered to drive (as the only ones with cars!), and we set off for Giant’s Causeway, on the northern coast. Stopping for lunch in Bushmills (where the famous whiskey is made!), we had Irish stew by the fire…only to see parked out the back, a helicopter!! We waited while the man and his 5 friends started the engine and took off for home after their Sunday lunch at the pub!! Nice if u can afford it!
After all the rain and wind we’ve had, we were amazed by the beautiful day! Blue sky for days, so much so we could see all the way over to Scotland! Well the pictures tell the rest of the afternoon, wandering up and down the causeway, watching the waves crash and walking along to the headland, where the coastal path is closed due to rockfalls (you can walk along the top of the cliffs for many more miles). Then as the sun was setting we headed back, exhausted after a day out in the fresh air!
Later that evening we settled down to an amazing dinner at ‘Zen’, a very nice Japanese restaurant in Belfast centre…with some of the best salmon sashimi I’ve had!...the sake went down well too! Finishing the evening we blagged our way into the Europa Hotel, which my friend now tells me is the most bombed hotel in the world, apparently!!..where a drunk scouser bought us champagne! We will do well here!
