Hummous comes with everything!!!

Israel, now this isnt a place i would have thought of visiting as either a holiday or a travel destination, but i dont know why!!..i suppose having very little knowledge of the country probably contributed to it, but now im here its a fascinating place to be!

We are fortunate enough to be staying in a hotel a stones throw from the beach, so we can fit in a few hours on the beach before work, as well as a few hours in the beach bars after work!

Tel Aviv is, i imagine, very different to the rest of the country...especially with everything we see in the news re.the gazza strip and the west bank. Its a very metropolitan city, with a very relaxed attitude to pretty much everything! The beach bars never close, its always hot, mostly blazing sun and you get hummous with almost everything! (and it tastes so much better than the stuff we do!)

It's a shame they cant afford to turn the air-con on for more than 3 hours a day at work! so its hot, hot, hot when we get there! oh there isnt a 'theatre cat' there are around 6 stray moggies who cat fight n screech during the show, the crew are threatening to take drastic action....

Furthest we've been into town is to the Carmel Market (gucci boxer shorts for a pound!) and the neighbouring craft market...only on 2 days a week, it had some beautiful hand made jewellery as well as lots of ceramic sheep! I bought a lovely necklace, a new thumb ring and 3 small photo prints by some cool photographer really into colourful situations...for the kitchen wall!

Well we've also been to all of the beach bars...the 'red bar' which is nearest to the hotel and has red nightlight cones down the beach for subdued lighting...actually called 'la mer', one of the best but also one with irratic service, but it has excellent food and serves sheesha's(nargilha here). The others are also good, no food comes in small portions and they love food to dip and share, especially yes u guessed it hummous! A bit further towards the old city of Jaffa is Clara, mainly nightclub, so v noisy, but much nicer up from the beach with the waves crashing on the rocks, sofas, chair hammocks and sushi to go!!....some photos are from there, it was cheaper to order drinks by the bottle, but by the third bottle of vodka, adi and i were a little worse for wear!...ahh well Adi u never come to visit so glad we made the most of the few days u were here!...hope your head wasnt too bad for the flight home!!

Everyone we met here has been lovely, especially the dressers, although the Israeli's have a culture of standing right in the way until someone pushes past them...so stand anywhere too long or they push u over!!

First day off on sunday, so we're heading to Jerusalem, watch this space...!
