Crossing the border....

After being woken in the night by a downpour of rain & having to rush outside & zip up all the tents air vents we'd left open!....we were then rudely awoken at 6am by an annoying man dragging wheelie bins around. Seen as we were up so early we decided to push on with the journey......through the hills of the mountainous Kimberly region & over dried up rivers with names like Devils Creek, Snake Creek & Mistake Creek....until we crossed the border into the NT (now 8.5 hours in front of you poms).

We arrived in Katherine with just enough time for a dip in the hot springs & as we couldnt be bothered to pitch up, paid for a cabin for the night....though we were still rudely awoken early next morning by an annoying man clearing leaves on a concrete road with a metal rake! 

The Northern Territory is hot ......& you often see clouds of smoke from bush fires....see photo of fire we drove through!
