Up early and sorted the van out before hitting the road with a bit of confusion getting out of the city. Once we got going the road seemed to be very flat and we passed lots of sheep, a big fish and the strange looking magpies. The closer we got to the lake the more snow capped mountains came into view and the temperature dropped. When we saw the lake it just jumps out at you BAM!! After a wrong turn, going past the Church of the Good Shepard and the statue of the dog, we made it to camp. It was a nice place right on the lake. The only problem were all the ducks…evil ducks. After setting up the van we played cards before tea. I was hoping to get up early to see the sunrise over the mountains.
I was abruptly woken up by Mia screaming in pain. She had a serious back problem. She couldn’t get out of bed and could hardly move. I went down to the reception, seeing the sunrise over the mountains, and enquired about a medical centre. I was told it is a 30 minute drive away…very helpful. So back to the van I went with this vital information. Mia was not impressed so we decided to go into town and gather more info. I helped her out of bed and we walked slowly into town, very slowly. Once at the information centre we found out that the guy was right. We also found out there are no taxis, buses or other means of transport. after thinking about what to do I struck on the notion that a massage may do the trick; so the info lady called a woman called Bridget.
Bridget was a friendly woman who did a stone massage, she took Mia off and said they would call me when they were done so I went for a wander around the lake stopping off at the church and dog statue for photos while trying to avoid the Korean tour buses. I also stopped at the lake to see what temperature the water was…cold, obviously. Then I had a mooch through town. Soon enough I got the call that Mia was coming back. I met her by the info place and she seemed a lot happier, it had been her sciatica. We went back to the van and drove to Farlie to see a physio but they were shut. Then we had a dodgy tea.
