A stay in the country

Text written in: English

Day 1

We were up early to check out, after doing a bit of shopping we had lunch before walking to the ferry to the south island. It was a really long walk with all the bags and Mia fell over and hurt her arm/leg/knee. On the boat we watched Jamie Oliver. On the other side we checked into the Atlantis hostel. Then we we=andered to the irish bar around the corner. Dan had been there before and met a guy who was leaving the country so we all had a drink. There were a few drunk irish girls who kept asking us to dance. There was a great song that everyone danced to called tk the DJ. After a while we went back to the hostel.

Springfield

Day 1

We got up early to check out and get an early start, we drove along the coast to Kiakora watching all the seals. There were just loads sitting on really high rocks and the side of the road. We also stopped off at the seal colony and saw a really big poser of a seal who must have known that people were taking pictures of him. Then we drove passed loads of giant Cray fish and ice cream cones. It took a while to get where we were going so we stopped at Springfield while Dan drive to his aunt and uncle's house. It was a strange YHA hostel that was a converted home, there were loads of Japanese books and lots of old collectable stuff. We went to the local pub and they were showing the Simpsons...ironic.

Glenntunnel

Day 1

After really odd dreams dan picked us up and we got going towards Greymouth to meet dans friend Bob. We drove through Arthur's pass which was cool, it was raining so all of the water falls were going. The snow season hasn't started yet so we may drive through it again at a later day. We stopped at a place with caves to walk through and saw a huge rainbow. After seeing dans friend we headed to Hokitika to see the jade factory. There wasn't anything that stood out but we met a south African guy who did rock paintings. His name also meant stone. Then we took the long drive to Jane and Jerry's house. I slept for most of the way. We met jane and jerry before going to the local pub and having tea. Then it was back to bed as everyone was pretty tired.

Day 2

We went to Hornby to look for coats and watched wild hogs. I got some cds.

Day 3

I went out with dan to get some fuel for Jerry's garage, then we drove down to Rakiaia gorge which was cool. We skimmed stones across the fast running river before heading back. We spent the night watching survivor with Jane and Jerry.

Day 4

Today we went for a walk along the Glentunnel mine track, it was a really nice track and we got lots of fresh air. We saw a dead cow or horse or cow, it was hard to tell what it was as it had been under water for a while and had been rotting, later a funny looking bird looked like it was trying to mate with my hat. Later in the day we watched pirates of the Caribbean 3 at 1 minute after midnight.
