Hollywood Day 3-6

Text written in: English

So up to historic hollywood boulevard to see the walk of fame. The girl at the desk of the inn printed of directions for us and we jumped on the bus. The driver was a sound chap and told us where to get of as the road was blocked due to the oscars being set up.

So of we wandered down the walk of fame seeing all the stars on the ground, there were people from all walks of life, Elvis, the Beatles, Kiss (who I got the horn over...a kate!) and CHUCK NORRIS!!!!! to name a few.

There is a realy cool disney soda fountain where we had lunch, it's like a 1950's dinner. I had spagetti and meat balls.Opposite the fountain was a big tent where the oscars were being set up, they had already put the red carpet down all be it covered in bubble wrap. We walked on the carpet and acted like hollywood stars.

There are some really cool boutiques and odd shops on the road and the biggest fanydress shop i have ever seen, even bigger than the coolest one ever in New York. There is also the hollywood and highland mall which is massive and has the strangest decor ever, a mix of egyptian and art deco. It has two giant pedistals with a gian elephant on each...odd indeed. There is also a really good view of the hollywood sign and really good cakes.

Next to the mall the is famous kodak theatre with all the hand prints and foot prints of the stars, they all face toward the theatre apart from Steve McQueen the rebel. I put my hand in to Arnie's hand prints and mine are bigger. Mia did Jonny Depp and was very happy about it. One of the funny things about the theatre is that people dress up as characters from different films and tv shows so people can have there photos taken  with them. The funny bit is that they don't really care about what they do as we saw Superman having a smoke and Elmo counting his cash in front of the kids.

The next day we were up early to get our minibus pick up to our tour opperators as we were going to disney land. However the bus didnt turn up and we had to jump into a cab to get us there on time. They did give us our money back but it was a bit of a joke and we got no apology. The bus drive was about 45 minutes to the park and we were told that we had to be back where we were dropped off by 7pm. The bus goes at 7pm...remember 7pm.

So into the park we went and it was the first day it had rained since New York. The first ride was Pirates of the Carriebean which was awesome. Also thunder mountain, mr toad, peter pan, a bobsliegh ride, space mountain, star tours, haunted masion, a new indiana jones ride which is freaking awesome and well worth the longest que of the day, it's a small worls after all, those little freaks are still haunting me and i did notice that iraq doesn't seem to be represented by those little midgets. Then Pirates again!!!

It is a nice place but the thing about it was that there is a lack of magice that you feel when you're in Disney World in Orlando. There is just something not quite right about it. Then it was back to the pick up by 7pm (remember). The bus turned up at about 8pm and said it was because of the rain...riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight.

The next day having decieded we had done all we wnated aprt from venice beach which we were doing tomorrow we decided to go and do the all time classic tour of the stars homes!!! So up to hollywood and with hesitation we went with the same tour company that left us in the pouring rain for an our. We only had to wait for about 2 minutes before the guy called us to follow him down to the vehicle we would use for the tour. On the brouchure it said minibus so when he stopped a chatted to a guy called Tony we thought nothing of it. Then Tony said jump in. We looked at the car and said "in this...the tour's in this?" So in we jumped to the stretched ford explorer van...OH MY WORD!!! This thing is massive and there were only six of us on the tour so we all had loads of room. There were funky lights that kept changing colour, it was amazing.

So we saw some fantastic front gates and wall along the way in cluding. James Dean, the guy from Jepardy (80 million dollar house), Dr 90210, Where Marylin Monroe's house has just been torn down, OZZY!!!!, Rod Stewart and the spot where he is building his footy pitch...the plot where Walt Disney used to live. The guy who owns Guess jeans who had 20 or so ferraris in his drive, Bill Cosby, Britney Spears and Steve Martin to name a few.

Now Steve Martin keeps business cards with him all the time that have is printed autograph on and if you ask him for his autograph he'll give you his card which says you have officially met Steve Martin.

We also passed all the hip places like the Viper Room, Whiskey a Go Go, and all the classic car places. When we got back we went into the chinese theatre to watch 23, a movie with Jim Carrey. It's a really nice place to watcha movie and the film was a good film if a bit predictable. Having said that I had been trying to work out the ending since I saw the advert for it...and I was right.

Next day, our last day. We got the bus down to Venice beach. Now some people say you can't do LA without a car but depending on what you want to see it's really easy. We got off the bus at Santa Monica and walked down passed a big tent where they were having the Spirit Awards, and all the way to the end of venice. There are loads of stalls out and it's a lot longer then i remember from the last time. There is some really great art down there and all the hippies and homeless are honest. A guy came and asked me for a few spare coins so he could get a beer. I didn't give it to him but honesty is a nice touch, like the guy in San francisco that had a sign saying "will test your drugs for free" it made me laugh and as he put an effort in a i gave him a few coins.

After that it was back to Santa Monica where we watched the astronought farmer a good film with Billy Bob Thorntern. I aslo got some really cool board shorts. Then back on the bus and packing up our stuff for the next trip down to the cook islands.
