Getting High
Text written in: English
It was an early start today as we had to meet James and Jackie at Silver Spurs for an authentic New York breakfast. I had pancakes, bacon, egg and maple syrup...awesome. As Jackie doesn't like public transport we jumped in a cab to the empire states building. After being harrased by tour touts we finaly got inside the building and got our tickets. James and Jackie went straight to the observation deck but Mia and I went on the skyride first, a simulator narrated by none other than Kevin Bacon ha ha ha.
Once the ride was over we went up to the observation deck to be greeted by stunning views of New York. It wasn't very cloudy so there some great views of the Statue of Liberty and all the different sights. It was freeezing and we couldn't spend much time outside. Once inside and warm I noticed that one off the walls was a full mirror and you could take a picture of yourself with New York in the back ground.
After we got back down to earth we were trying to find the red dudes who had the tickets to the red tour bus but none could be seen anywhere. So we walked down the route trying to locate them, we passed lots of cool sites like Madison Square Park (not the stadium), we also passed a church which had blue and yellow ribbons for every soldier who had died in Iraq...there were hundreds of ribbons. After an hour or so James was getting grumpy and cold, so we grabbed a coffee and some horrible food from the ruler of the world...Starbucks. James wanted to get a running Jacket so we jumped in a cab to the Mall and we also had a look in FOA Swatchs toy shop (from Big) with its big piano and awesome pirates of the carribean/lord of the rings collectors memorabilia.
After a discussion about what to do next I suggested the Rocky Horror Centre so we then set off for the Rock on the Top we passed more big buildings. When we got to the tower we had a look at the people ice skating and James was laughing at children falling over. We then went inside and as we went towards the lift you get your picture taken I was the only one who noticed that the floor was a movie looking down at the workers during the building of the skyscraper. Then in the lift there is a very cool effect which you'll have to find out for yourself but it made Jackie jump out of her skin.
Once on the top of the building it was warmer as they have big glass panels stopping the wind freezing people to death. There are fantatic views of the empire state builiding. It was also late in the day so the lights of New York were starting to come on and we agreed to come back on friday night to see it in the dark.
After coming back to earth again we went back to Ma and Pa's before going for a thai meal which was showing on repeat a film about coral fish...strange. Then as we were leaving it started to snow which was awesome until it started snowing really heavily so we rushed back to the flat in Brooklyn and watched a really offensive and very funny comedy act. Then Bed.
