We've finally arrived. We got here yesterday afternoon & it's all been very emotional. Dan let me have the window seat for landing so I could see what our new home looks like & as soon as it came in to view I was overwhelmed. As the plane descends for landing it travels along the west coast for about 40 minutes & it was beautiful, the sky was clear with a few clouds so we could see so far.
We were expecting immigration to take a little bit of time due to the fact we're not here on a tourist visa but in actual fact it was easier. I was not expecting to feel anything really on arriving but I was so happy & when the man said "Ms Adams you are a New Zealand resident, congratulations" & stamped my passport I burst in to tears. I felt a bit of an idiot.
We drove to the apartment that we're staying in for the first week until we're all set up with the bank & formalities, & thought we'd better go out for a walk in order to saty awake & stave off any jet-lag. We went to the marina which is beautiful & had our first meal of Kiwi "fush & chups" & a bottle of local wine & celebrated where I cried again & then we went back & passed out. Our first proper day here has taken us all over the city, walking to the beautiful district of Parnell, through the parks & to the museum. Although we've been here just a day we're both in agreement that we think we've made a very good decision by coming here.
We'll be set up with a phone in the next few days & have a phone card so we'll attempt to speak to as many people as possible over the next week or so.
love Nic & Dan
