3 nights in Bangkok...

Text written in: English

After a relatively low-key bus ride up to the outskirts of Surat Thani to get the overnight train, Dan ended up having to sit in the back of a truck with 7 people & bags for 14 to make the final leg. Thankfully he managed to hang on OK & as soon as he got to the station quickly ran to find some beer to calm his nerves.

We treated ourselves to a first class cabin & proceeded to drink a lot of beer & karaoke'd our way to Bangkok - I passed out & managed to get some sleep while Dan was buzzing after eating some MSG covered crisps & lots of chocolate.

On arrival at the station we managed to find the only taxi in Bangkok that on sight of farangs kept his meter on instead of trying to charge us inflated prices. We head straight for the hotel & some sleep.....

Our 3 days were hectic as is the only possible way to experience the City of Angels. We visited Pat Pong (not the bars but the night market, although Dan did get neck ache craning his head round the doors) where we purchased some merchandise including a West Ham shirt which appeared to be less claret, more pink & of course we did engage in a bit of sedate Wat viewing at the Grand Palace.
