Luckily we awoke to beautiful weather for our jaunt down the French Riviera and into Italy.  We followed the coast down to St Tropez and we were contsantly commenting on the amazing clear blue water.  St Tropez itself didnt have much that appealed to us so we continued down the coast.  We found a quiet bit of coastline (not hard at this time of year) to stop for a picnic lunch.  Very relaxing, definitely recommend it. 

After numerous photo stops we reached Monaco to check out how the other half lives (very well from what we saw).  We saw lots of toys in the marina and around town but didnt make it into the casino for a gamble.

Not long after we reached Italy and were horrified at the price of accommodation and spent one of our few nights so far in a hostel (definitely not Monaco).  It was quite depressing to hand over as much cash (or even more) to sleep in a dorm as we had been for our own rooms in France, Spain and Portugal.
