lets go!.....to the Batcave

Text written in: English

Gnung mulu : an expensive side trip but well worth it. after failing to secure a place to sleep at the park we had to bump for a tour, got the cheapest tour we could but was worth the money in the end taking the hassle out of booking everything ourselves. Gnung mulus main attraction for ourselves was Deer Cave, the largest cave opening in the world and home to over 3 million bats. it truely was an impressive sight and in the evening we got to see all the bats leaving the cave on their nightly forage.

we spent three days around mulu visiting other caves and doing jungle walks. One thing that did happen was on the first night it rained non stop for the whole night and in the morning when we awoke the river was busting its banks and our lodge was flooded. lucky they are built on stilts for that kinda craic anyway. we did a canopy walk while we were there and seen a very poisonous pit viper snake who had just swallowed more than it could chew and a lizards tail was sticking out through its mouth. also did a night walk and seen loads of stuff like snakes, frogs, stick insects, wierd bugs, a porcupine and a small cat called a civet, very lucky we were. unfortunlatley our lift didnt arrive that night and we had a very eventful walk back to our lodge in the rain when our torch light died and i nearly took the path into the river instead of a lodge.
