let me set the scene................. its 3.10am youve just been awoken by the driver telling you to get out your passports, youve escaped from the mad newzealander and you have to now do a realativly easy border crossing being eaten alive by mosquitoes in jungle heat.

 

we went to get stamped out and the "system is down" not really knowing what to do we just wander over to the peruvian side of the river to get stamped in (thinking that getting stampped out isnt that nescersary) upon arrival to the other side i find the peruvian dude really having a go at keiths passport scrutinising every crease, now i know his passport isnt going to win passport of the year but its no fake, but this guy thinks if he can keep us sweating long enough hes going to make himself a new bonus. after much flapping he takes the passport into the back room for further prodding then tells us we have to get an exit stamp, we run over the bridge (our bus driver isnt the patient kind) and skip the queue to get our stamps the system is working but at a snails pace.

 

back on the peruvian side and the man turns his attention to me looking at my passport for any slight sign of anything, mine was fine but he still held us up for a further 10 mins looking at keiths and chatting to his cronies. after what seemed like forever we got stamped in but had to now go to the police and they had to have a gander at them. i got signed in and was waiting for keith but i had to go stop the bus because it had decided not to wait and was trying to drive off, after a further 10mins and much wanting of money (dont worry our lack of spanish came in handy) keith was finally let in and we was on the bus.

 

we arrived in piura tired cranky and a little harrased this morning a little bit early but at least we made it!
