things that go grrr in the night

Text written in: English

cuenca beautiful in everyway has been lovly plenty to do if u plan to only stay a few days.

firstly we went to the "zoo" was really informative and ran by a load of uni students studying reptiles, we got loads of info but wasnt impressed by the size of their boas (and they was feeding live food).

got a great hostel only 10 dollars per night so we splashed out on a visit to the park, the day started out cold and wet and kim had the begginings of a cold but on we went not quitesure of what was ahead. we was assured by the park ranger that the routes we had decided to take around the park were easy and well marked out (neither of these were true) so off we popped tent and compass in hand to find ourselves wandering around the wilderness and mountains at over 4000meters above sea level not quite sure where we were going. we walked about 30 kilometers in 2 days mostly uphill or sharply down or through some dodgy bits of forest. we camped out the night ontop of some inca ruins, and thats when the scaryest thing happend, as we was tucked up in bed i heard something, footsteps? sniffing? i didnt know what so i got keith armed with a fork to investigate, we started making loads of noise to scare the beast off, now be aware that in this park their are pumas and bears, not to mention some nasty llamas so our imaginations ran wild, after a not so nice nights sleep we ventured outside to investigate, finding nothing we wrote it off as a trick of our imaginations,  until the next day when we spotted some strange looking footprints of a big cat nearby.

ah but nothing ventured nothing gained

off to loja next almost peru !

kim and keith
