Spent the weekend in Swakopmund, a small, German-looking town where the Namib desert meets the Atlantic ocean. Such a pleasure to be out of a tent for a few days and enjoying the unseasonably warm weather (20-30C, day and night!).
Had a great time on the massive sand dunes just outside of town. Went quadbiking on Saturday afternoon and rode up to some stunning views and a gorgeous sunset. Tried out sandboarding on Sunday which was even more fun. Used snowboards coated with formica and extra wax to cruise down some quite steep slopes, and did some toboganning as well, reaching speeds of 68 km/hr!
Visited more sand dunes on the way South, including sunset atop the famous 'Dune 45' near Sossusvlei. The hike up was pretty grueling but we had good fun running/rolling down it afterwards!
Spent the evening at Fish River Canyon, continuing South to Cape Town... second largest after the Grand Canyon.
