I had another motorbike lesson this morning. I wore trainers which meant that I was able to start the bike myself!! I can now change gear both up and down - yey!! I went on the road for the first time which was actually quite fun although I don't think my speed registered on the speedometer!! Went to the beach again although it is so hot!! In the afternoon Andrea and I went to see a couple of waterfalls in the centre of the island. We had an elephant ride which was really very very weird!! A Thai boy sat right on the elephant's neck/head and guided the elephant by kicking it behind the ears. (I don't think it hurt the elephant though!) Andrea and I were sat on a seat on the elephant's back and when the elephant walked we were tipped from side to side!! It felt almost insecure when the elephant went downhill!! The elephant definitely had a mind of it's own and was quite happy to stop and rip a whole branch off the nearest tree!! It also liked coating us with dust!! After the elephant ride we walked up to the next waterfall - what a mission!! We were told that it would take 5 minutes!! NOT TRUE!! We walked for about half an hour up stupidly steep and rocky mountainside - not good in the heat!! I was so glad when we finally got to the top! I was expecting a magnificent waterfall but it wasn't any where near as big or as spectacular as I expecting! It did have a cold pool though which I so needed!! Going down was difficult (especially in flip flops - I don't learn!!). Luckily we had help in the form of a 'sherpa' guy and neither of us broke or twisted anything!! In the evening we saw the sunset for the first time. (We weren't able to see the sunset where we were staying previously.) Tuanjit had her whole family round in the evening and we had a great big feast!
