Don't have much time for this entry.. but wanted to jot things down before I forget..
- Mombasa's cleanliness is a facade for the 35th IAAF Cross country championships.. you'll notice that along the routes that people will have to take into town from the airpoint are now cleaner and have trees planted along them.. but if you go off that route.. it is not cleaner than some places in India as I previously claimed.. I feel bad to have said that in a previous entry so I take that back now..
-This week have been differen't cause the soccer girls have come watched the basketball play, and we have gone and watch the soccer play on Monday and Tuesday.. this caused us to play 2 friendly matches yesterday and today.. one where the soccer girls played against us at basketball, and then we played the soccer girls in football. We all had so much fun.. and seems that Shelly Beach did wonders for the girls discipline in Basketball.. it will be very bad when I leave.. they will lose the consistancy that was maintained while I was here...
- I am looking forward to staying in MOYO... due to several errands that have been run this week trying to spend the donated funds.. I have had to run back and forth from the island to Magongo a few times a day.. which was tiring.. but interesting cause I finally got to see the city during the day when the shops where open.. and I know so many of the back alley ways now!
-All the money has been spent..Details to follow.. but basically bought several books for the library, paint, more medical fees for some girls, tractor & labour to level the field (work to commence Saturday), and rent for MOYO. The new pitch will be used without cement until Paige (another volunteer revisiting in MAY comes with her Reebok sponsership). Which is a huge improvement from the sandy primary school grounds! YEA!!!
-I have now walked around so many places with no shoes or only flip flops.. i think I am finally a "Mafrika, and not a Munzungu" And with the hair braided and very dark tan.... almost kenyan now....
