Honey ice cream...yummy

Text written in: English

July 31 - Today we headed back to Tirau (you remember, the corrugated capital of New Zealand). I really like this place, it just has such character. We went for brunch at the Cabbage Tree Café, which had old school desks as tables, & then went to the teddy bear shop, which had some lovely teddies, including one that was bigger than me & a Steve Irwin tribute bear, there were even gollywogs. Next was the Clock Peddler shops & this was beautiful, there were Grandfather & Grandmother clocks, coo coo clocks & lots of other amazing clocks. The owner was really friendly & once he’d enquired about where we were from, he told us that his Minister had just transferred from there. Next was the Christmas Heirloom Shops, with lots of Christmas decorations & then the Naked Gallery, which was not as rude as it sounded. Finally we went to the Honey Shop, where we had some lovely honey ice cream, yum. Once back in Bertha, we drove up to Orere Point, where we had a quick look around, before settling in for the night.

1st August - We both packed up Big Berta today, ready for giving her back tomorrow. We then headed to the larger village in the area, which consisted of about 5 shops! so we got some lunch & headed down to the beach to eat such. We came back to the campsite & had a walk around, including the area named Carnation Street, which are the permanent campervans with extensions, one being named The Rovers Return. There really are some very nice ones, with little fenced in garden areas. We walked down to the stream, where Tom nearly slid in, much to my amusement, plus the added smugness that it wasn’t me.
