Crinkle cut capital of NZ!

Text written in: English

July 29 - we left Whakatane today & headed for Hobbiton, but along the way we drove through Tirau & liked the look of it, so stopped for lunch. It’s a cool little town & is actually the corrugated capital of New Zealand! It had a corrugated sheep (which was a café), a dog (the tourist info place), a blue bird above a café, poppies above another café, a teddy bear, a Sheppard, a locus, a bee, a chunk of cheese & a mouse & a fiat car in the middle of an elephant, a giraffe & a tiger. After lunch we headed for the castle, which is actually a toy museum & is open 7 days a week. When we got there it was closed, so we headed for Hobbiton. We had a look at the tour available & headed for the hot springs campsite, but after 3 attempts at trying to get the van on to different sites & ending up getting stuck in mud on each of them (it‘s been pouring all day), we left. In the end we headed down to Taupo for a couple of days.

The good sheppard - actually I think this is Tom's idol with the beard! Oh yea, don't forget the sheep dog..... which is acutally the tourist info place Of course you have to have the sheep too, which Tom had an urge to enter from the back entrance! How cute is he! this is one of the birds only found in NZ (I think) Tom playing hobbit
