April 12 - As it was raining, we spent most of the morning sitting around chatting. In the afternoon we popped to the airport & changed our flight from the 23rd to the 14th, then as we were walking down the corridor of the airport one guy came out & tried to sell us some tours! When we got back we spent about 2 hours trying to find somewhere to stay in Wellington, the internet was being it's usual unless self! When we met up with the others, we found out that 2 Dutch girls had been into town & ended up having to buy things they didn't want, but I think the prize for being ripped off must go to Alex & Thz, they each ended up buying wooden swords for FJ$20 each (Mary said they should have cost FJ$2.50 each), then got into a mini van & agreed to pay FJ$15 to get back to the hostel when it should have cost 50c (and the driver continued to pick up other passengers along the way & only harge them 50c) and then at lunch they requested 2 sachets of ketchup & got charged FJ$5! We did all have to have a laugh at each others stories & it definately made us all feel better that we weren't the only ones it had happened too. Poor Alex is from Sweden & was pretty horrified to find that in England we are taught things like rock formations & clouds etc in geography & not where places & what capitals are so we ended the night with a little geograph test (I wish Amy was there, she's have told him!), but we did get him back as he'd never heard of Guernsey & we knew alot more about the states then he did.
12 April - It's raining again, so we sat around chatting, not that there is a lot else to do around Nadi anyway. The internet was down again most of the day but I managed to get some emails off. We repacked everything again ready for the next day.
One girl had brought a small stray puppy back to the hostel but it was so ill, it's ribs were showing, it smelt really bad, it obviously had fleas & god knows what else so Mary had to send it away, understandably.
In the evening we were all sat around chatting again & Thz tried to husk a coconut with a small kitchen knife, well I think this must have been the most interested and amuzing way we have ever seen a coconut being husked. In the end he gave up & one of the staff got out his big pointy stick & showed him how it's meant to be done.
13 April - Typically the sun is out today. We had breakkie, said our goodbyes & then headed for the airport. We left Fiji at 1.
I really didn't enjoy Fiji, to say they are meant to be the friendly people on earth, I think they are greatly mistaken, don't get me wrong we did met some nice people but most of the time they were just trying to get stuff out of you. Also Adam & Alex said they had chatted to some of the locals who were just like Beavies & Butthead when they spoke of 'white chicks, yea yea, white chicks'! We did met some lovely people staying at Tropic of Capricorn too & wish them all well in the travels too.
