Mar 25 (yeap we crossed the international dateline & lost a day) - we landed at 3.45am, it was absolutely pouring down & was lightening & to top it all off the hotel didn't come to collect us. Luckily another guy gave us a lift & had to hoot his horn for the security guard to let us in. Our room was nice, it looked over the pool & the sea, however we found out the next day this wasn't the room we were staying in. Breakkie was lovely (full English for GBP2.25, so I thought this could be a problem!). We headed into town but it was flooded & had to turn back, there were people walking through the flood up to their knees. It's appartently been raining nearly non-stop for the last 3 weeks so were hopefully it won't last much longer. Back at the hotel we watched a DVD & looked through some brouchures to get some ideas of things to do. We decided to go for a walk along the beach & we saw some locals fishing with big nets & also a crab (2.5") up on his back legs trying to get someone with his pinchers. We hadn't gone far when it started to pour down again so headed back. There isn't much of a common area here, but we sat next to three girls from Essex for tea & they were pretty friendly.
Mar 26 - It's still raining & town is still closed. We walked across the road to the dive center & they said we could start our PADI course that afternoon, perfect. We sat for 3 hours watching the DVDs & then came back to the hotel & did 5 hours homework.
Mar 27 - Up early had breakkie & headed off for the PADI course. I couldn't beleive it, I was the quickest at setting up the equipment, although I did have some problems remembering the names of stuff & then we were ready for the pool. I had great fun trying to find the right size wet suit but it was third time luckily - much to the amuzment of us all with the other attempts which drowned me. I grabbed my inhaler in case my asthma started (highly unlikely but better safe than sorry) & this is when the problems started. The instructor hadn't been advised that I had asthma & refused to continue until I had a dr note & so sent me away. They didn't even know if they would refund the money. When I got back to the hotel it was too late to catch the bus into town & the next one was due until 3.30pm which meant I had to just hang around the hotel, luckily the sun had come out but I was still extremelly bored.
Tom finish at 4 & after a shower we headed up the road (30min walk) to the shops & found a really nice place for tea. We had just started our walk back when a local warned us there were alot of druggies where we were about to go & so opted for a cab instead. When we got back Tom did some study & I read some more of my book.
