Huge beers and bigger hangovers

Text written in: English

Munich was our last stop on our three week adventure.  By this time we were pretty tired n' saw even less than we saw in Prague.  Oh... well, just like Prague it will give me an excuse to come back.

The girls that we met from Portugal had a car n' picked us up from the train station.  We were off to check out a few of the sites of Munich by car.  It felt kinda wierd to ride in a car, since we hadn't been in a car since our taxi in London.  We took off n' checked out one of the many palaces around Munich.  This one called Nymphenburg was really cool.  It's got some great parks and open area around it, as well as some cool water areas.

After the palace we just took off n' got a little lost.  We eventually got to check out the opera house, govt. building, as well as a few churches n' museums.  I now that most of the stuff is pretty new, but they make it look good.

We got back to our hostel n' relaxed a bit before we went out.  Our first stop had to be the Marienplatz.  Which is the city center, and has been for hundreds of years.  It was pretty cool to see it at night with a slight drizzle coming down.  We soon made our way over to the Hofbräuhaus, but we stopped for some ice cream first.  I knew that we were close, and I couldn't wait for some good German beer.  Once we got there it didn't disapoint.  I had 3 or 4 of the great beers, and I would have had more, but everyone wanted to go.

When we got back to the hostel everyone was tired, so they stayed in the room.  I on the other hand went out and got some beers at the hostel bar, and then went out to some after hours bars with the bartender from the hostel bar.

Here is the outside of the Nymphenburg Palace... is a Baroque palace in Munich. The park bisected by a long canal along the principle axis which leads from the palace to the marble cascade (decorated with stone figures of Greek gods) in the west. Two lakes are situated on both sides of the canal. This is a view from the inside of the Park looking back at the large Palace. I don't remember what this building is, but we stopped n' took a picture anyways. Here are the girls with there gnome out in front of the mystery building. On the right is the Theatinerkirche in Munich, it was built from 1663 to 1690. The church was built in Italian high-baroque style after San Andrea del Valle in Rome and designed by the Italian architect Agostino Barelli. The Feldherrnhalle (Field-gentleman-resounds) is a monumental building in Munich, Germany. It was built between 1841 and 1844 at the southern end of Munich's Ludwigsstraße. Watching the sun set over Odeonsplatz. The Hofgarten (royal garden) was commissioned by Duke Maximilian I and built between 1613-17. All its paths converge on the dodecahedral pavilion in the centre. Here's a picture of the girls gnome in the Hofgarten. Marienplatz, Mary's Square in English, has been the foundation and heart of Munich, Germany since 1158. In the Middle Ages markets and tournaments were held in this city square. The bell in the new city hall was inspired by these tournaments, and draws millions of tourists a year. Marienplatz was named after the Mariensäule, a Marian column erected in its centre in 1638 to celebrate the end of Swedish occupation. Here I am at the world famous Hofbräuhaus. If there's a more famous place to get a beer... I don't know what it is. The four of us stopped by n' had a few beers at the Hofbräuhaus. They had split a beer or two between the 3 of them n' I had a good 3 or so by myself. Nice group shot that our waiter took for us at our table in the Hofbräuhaus. Mmmmmmmmm... that was a good liter of beer. Double fisting will get you drunk at this place. If you do continue to drink... you will get a nice set of beer goggles!!! Drink up!!!! This was the traveling band that walked around the Hofbräuhaus playing music. Lots of empty glasses n' we are about ready to leave the happiest place on earth!! These were some other tourists hangin out partyin. The guy in the middle was celebrating his birthday, and I helped sing Happy Birthday for him. Here I am watching the NFL Super bowl in a bar in Munich. It's wierd watching it in German... with no cool commercials. These were the announcers that helped me with my German during the game.
