this is going to be my entry on valparaiso, but there are two reasons for not going into detail at the moment.
1. i missed my bus to laguna verde (40 min ride) already yesterday and i don't want to miss it again today
2. i took so many photos and they can tell stories of the beauty of the city much better than i do - too bad i'm not Pablo Neruda, he could have done it ... Lukas would have painted pictures much better than photos ... but i can't.
This entry is at the moment just to tell you, that i'm fine and looking forward to do more travelling (tomorrow i'm going to head to Santiago (finally) )
... well, as i spent some hours of running around like crazy in the city of Valparaiso, i've had the possibility to get an opinion of how the city is like. ... even though i'm in Rosario already I still miss the escalators, taking me up and down all the time. For me it was like with computer games, if there is no big reason to stop, i could do it all day long. Especially if you find the escalators which are not that touristy (if there are any, which are not touristy) you only pay 100 chilean peso and you can ride and ride ...... just a lot of fun and amazing how this people were able to construct those tiles one hundred years ago. They look like houses which are going up and down a hill, as inclining as a fire ladder.
The image of the city is really colourfol, as no house next the other has got the same colour. Whereas i heard that people were asked (and paid) by the city council to colour their houses (probably for tourists) and to put good looking (old looking) fronts there, to make the city look old and rustic.
The port is still amazing, big ships, tankships, cruisers ... even though most ships use the Panama channel and therefore the Valparaiso port lost importance ...
