Sandy Christmas!

Text written in: English

This Christmas, my parents and I decided to go to Namibia, specifically to Sossusvlei, to see the highest dunes in the world.

We stayed at Kulala Desert Lodge and our stay there was nothing short of breath-taking...this lodge is nestled in the heart of the Namib desert, facing the red dunes, and the reason you see dry grasses covering the otherwise dark rocky ground surface is that there was some rain earlier last year, which is highly unusual in this part of the world.

The photos you see below are mostly form what i like to call 'D-day' - Dune day - as we woke up at 5am to climb up a 300m high dune before 9am at which time the sun becomes unforgiving...and we did it!

Other 'greener' photos are from Goche Ganas Wellness Village which is located about 80km directly south of Windhoek. We found this little bushveld jewel by chance, while driving on a dirt road. We only spent one night there to acclimatise but it left a very good impression on us.
