Hello chaps,
not in Uruguay yet but am leaving for Colonia first thing in the morning on the hydrofoil. Colonia is a world hertitage site, should be pretty nice I hope and have got myslef a cool hotel with pool etc.
Have had a cool day, sorted out my ticket to Uruguay and my ticket home. Trip is going to have to be cut short because of the BA strike, things won't be back to normal by the time I have to leave if the strike goes ahead. Tried to change my trip home for the day before the strike but it seems that everybody else had the same idea and I wasn't able to get on that flight. Rest of the dates are also full and could only get back if I upgraded again and that would have cost a fortune, away the long and short of it is I'll be back on Friday. I heard on the news this morning that BA cabine crew take an average of 22 days sick per year - b@sards need shooting.
I hada very relaxing day, Buenos Aires gets better and better. Did a bit of shopping around trendy Palermo, couple of shirts. Went to the zoo! Great place, loads of big cats (and bears!), all mixed in with old victorian sytle buildings and statues etc. loads of atmosphere. Then went for a walk in the park and to the Japonese gardens. Amazing place, litterally hundred of big carp in the ponds all gawping up at you. Great restaurant there too, in fact I'd go as far as to say probably the rest japonese meal I've every had.. and a nice change from steak - I had another one last night.
The amazing thing about the Argentines is that they eat loads fo the wrong stuff, carbs, red meat, big deserts, huge portions etc, but very few of them are fat. Must be good genes or something.
While I'm on the subject, the chicas and chicos here are on average better looking than us Brits. Must be they immigrant mix that brings out the best, lots of Italian, German and Brit immigration to complement the Spanish.
Anyway, I've got some time to kill when I get home now, I think I may need to explore a quick trip to Egypt for some diving if there's time.
Spent the late afternoon on the roof terrace catching some rays and listening to some funky house, cheers to Philip Mc for the CDs for Christmas.
My tan is developing slowly, might have to miss some of the details of Colonia and spend more time around the pool tomorow...
Laters amigos.
