Hit the road jack.....

Text written in: English

Monday morning we were up at the crack of dawn to head off on a road trip down the Great Ocean Road.

We booked a tour with an independent company, which was actually just a 31 year old guy who had travelled the world and was running his own tours.

There were 22 people on the trip, which was quite a good size. We spent two days together and by the end of the trip we all knew each other really well.

The tour went to the Adelaide end of the Great Ocean Road and then worked its way back along the road to Melbourne stopping at all of the sites along the way.

We saw wild Koala's all along the road and stopped at a National Park for lunch and one of the Koala's came down, walked straight past us and up another tree. It's amazing to see them so close.

There was a lot of history along the road, with ship wreck sites and stories of survivers and those who didn't survive, as well as more recent tales of Korean smugglers (apparently there is still 5K of heroin on the bottom of the sea) and a landlord who is standing trial for putting cameras and peepholes in the ladies toilets - thankfully we didn't go to that pub.

In the evening we went to the 12 Apostles (there's only actually eight and a half?!?!) and watched the sun set drinking a bottle of red wine - always good!

Todd, the tour guide, made us all a gorgeous BBQ with Thai pasta, steak, BBQ chicken and salad. It was gorgeous - beats all the MacDonalds we've been eating!

We stopped off at a rainforest and had a walk through it and visited the Round the Twist lighthouse - anyone remember that? "Have you ever, ever felt like this, when strage things happen, are you going round the twist, Well have you heard the word about the bird and the spider, it wiggled and wiggled and jiggled inside her, Have you ever, ever felt like this, when strange things happen, are you going round the twist?" There was much singing!!!!

The trip finished with a stop off at Bells Beach (the beach in Point Break) where we watched the surfers doing their stuff.

I'll add the pictures later, as I'm just in a small hut at the back of a farm at the moment and the computer is ridiculously slow! xx
