Time to strap on the snowboard!

Text written in: English

So back in Queenstown there was one thing on my agenda and that was my birthday. Before I got a chance to celebrate though, I had to go to my sign up day at Coronet Peak. Coronet Peak is one of the 2 Queenstown mountains and I'd secured a job working in the café. The sign up day was pretty dull but I managed to meet a few people that I would be working with and I got my season pass for the mountain along with a bag of discounts around town.

So two days after celebrating my birthday with Danny, Adam, Sabatino and the Gemmas I started work at coronet peak and the next day moved into the Fridge aka our new house. All the people at work were real sound and the house is a nice little wooden place with an awesome view over the lake. The only problem as you may have already guessed is that it's bloody freezing! It's got a wood fire but we've had major problems getting it to pump out any heat.

I'm writing this now 3 weeks on and I think it's fair to say that we have Queenstown on lock. We've met all the owners of Harry's now and one of them has offered me a job whenever I want one. I've won one of the Harry's Pool comps too and Rob has started work up at Coronet. We met up with Chris again who you might remember from our first night out in Queenstown and it's basically like being at uni again where it's impossible to walk down the street without running into people you know, swapping stories and exchanging QT banter. I've had 3 absolutely cracking nights out of note: Winnie's Staff Party, Jaeger Thursday and Karen's Birthday. Jaeger Thursday has become a tradition but the first one will be forever hard to beat. The whole gang was out: Rob, Simon, Carolyne, Tom, Kate, Pistol and Laura. Here's a great photo of us all in my favourite night spot Tardis.

I've now got my own Snowboard, boots and we've had a big dump of snow. I've had no injuries so far either (touchwood) and am totally settling into the Queenstown lifestyle. I still keep checking myself when I start taking things for granted but life right now consists of zero complaints. Definitely a good note to go out on as I can't imagine I'll update this while here but at the end of the season we'll see what happens. The plan right now is to move to Wellington to save some money so that I can keep travelling but there's plenty of time to work that out. I hope all is good back in the UK with everyone and I miss you all. Take it easy. Ian x
