Tonight I'm treating myself. I've just arrived in Jaipur after taking the 240 Rupee coach for 6.5 hrs from Delhi. This was the cheaper option and it shows. I arrived and nearly got lost, as it was dark and my first time in the city. I was eventually shown the way by a young guy who I initially thought was leading me on, but he had quite a genuine face. I did risk offending him by asking directiuons from two guys in uniform, but there you go. They backed up his directions anyway. So as it turned out, this guy and his friend actually were genuinely excited to meet a foreigner. This was good to know, and quite reassuring. I arrived, knackered at the hotel and chose the expensive room (500Rs/night or GBP5.80) with a bathroom and balcony. I'll save next time. I took my first rickshaw - a bumpy ride, but a refreshing change from walking, especially since it was dark and I had no idea where i was. I'm now writing my diary in an Italian restaurant - Medeterraneo, on a rooftop terrace above a hotel. I just wanted something that wasn't an experience - just food. Penne arrabbiata with olives followed by apple pie + custard. Mmmmm...
