Tea any one?

Text written in: English

We are now in the hills..... wall to wall tea plantations. The drive in was also the most pleasant bus experience we've had. Best of all was the promise of hamburgers.... big bill board advertising succulent dead cow smother in sauce hugged by heavenly buns. We are that desperate we have even considered MacDonalds... not that you can find one.

Only to get to the restaurant to find week old veg burger... WTF. This place has even started to rip me off in my daydreams! The town itself is nice... very small with loads of nature activities, apparently. We go the tourist info ( this is the state sanctioned one and not some fool with a painted sign outside his shoe stand ) for some info on treks. Only to get the most un helpful person behind the desk. She proceeds to barely acknowledge our presence as she is too busy doing other stuff. So Nancy repeatedly asks her questions to answers we don't really care for.

So after our limited and useless interaction we find out that the only trekking we can do is with their group and a guide is required. Yeah right ... not doing some over priced walk with some moron who keeps point at the plants ... mumbling "TEE BOOSH" or "WAUGHTA FALL", especially when they try rush us almost $100US for overnight camping. So much for the communist state of Kerala.

So we did our own trek.... we would of been lost had we know where we where going. Was wicked... and better than any trail they could of taken us on.
