Cochabamba

Text written in: English

Cochabamba is a large city, located about 10 hours` drive from Potosi. The city reminds many other western cities, and unlike the other Bolivian cities we`ve been to so far, doesn`t seem to be so poor. Walking in the streets, you can easily feel like walking in Tel Aviv or Hertzlia, with all the nice shops, restaurants and caffes. The main attraction here is paragliding, which we did on a sunny, clear morning. The view from above is breathtaking and feeling the breeze in your hair way up above, flying like a bird, is amazingly fun. The whole flight takes about 10-15 minutes, but when you're in the air, the time just freezes. The guide takes you to places with warm air that lifts you up, so for the first couple of minutes you gain altitude. And then, after few minutes which passed so fast, you're coming near the landing zone, doing some manuevers, and eventually land. I have to say that it is not as thrilling as the skydive I did in Argentina, but it`s totally worth it.

The day before we went to visit the christ statue, on a mountain in the center of the city.  The statue itself is not as impressive as the one in Rio, although it`s a little bigger. Of course we had to do some silly pictures, standing near this huge statue and spreading our arms like the christ above. There is also a very nice view from this point, and we could clearly see all the parts of this huge city.

One final thing I have to mention, is a Havanna coffee house that we found here.  I was so thrilled by the fact that I can seat and have a nice coffe with the famous Alfajores here in Bolivia, so I had to take some pictures....  It`s amazing that not so far from here people still live in clay houses and working 10 hours a day in the mines, and here you can have a nice coffee and an Alfajor in a totally western city.
