Ensenada

The city of Ensenada is located about two hours drive from the american border.  As expected, I could hear much more english on the streets, not just from the american tousirts that come here for vacation, but also from the town folks.

The city itself is located on the pacific ocean, which means that it has a large port and some nice beahces. Unfortunately, unlike La Paz in southern Baja California, the water here is quite cold....

First thing I did when I got here was going to the tourists information center and getting a map of the city with all the atractions. There are many things to do and see over here, such as the beautiful bay, the fish market and the tourists market, located on a long colourful street. In the center of the tourist quarter there is a giant Mexican flag, reminding you where you are. I basicly used it as a compass, telling my where the west is at all times without even looking at the map.

The people of Ensenada have invested a new kind of food - The fish and shrimp tacos. Since fish are the main dishes at this port city, it it reasonable that fish dishes would be popular. Of course I gotta try everything that is new !  I strongly recommend those tacos. They're quite spicy, but delicious !
