The golden gate bridge, Alcatraz

The sight of Alcatraz island from the shore was so tempting I decided I wanna go there to check it out myself. The Sailing is not so long, about 20 minutes. But as you set foot in this rocky island in the middle of the pacific bay - I don't know how to explain it, you feel something in the air. Maybe it's the wind that blowing in your ears. Maybe it's the frightening look of those forsaken concrete walls. Maybe it's the birds that are flying around the island. This special creepy atmosphere is getting heavyer as you walk up the slope to the prison building. Everywhere I looked I saw something familiar. The dock, the buildings, the remains of the guards' quarters - I've seen it all in the movie "The Rock" with Sean Connery and Nicholas Cage. (Remember ?!). The tour itself is self - guided with earphones that tell you the story of the prison, with backgroung sounds and original prisoners' stories. The stories are facsinating, including the stories about Al Capone, and Robert Stroud (The Birdman of Alcatraz).

After that I went to the Golden Gate Bridge Park: A beautiful huge park made by man. The park is 5 kilometers long and about 1 kilometer wide. It's amazing what things you can put in a park. Besides bicycle and runnning trails, they also have 3 lakes with rentable boats, an art museom, several coffe shops, football and baseball courts, Conservatory of flowers and two windmills. Why don't we have these stuff in Isreal ?! 

Finally I headed up a little north to catch a glimpse of the seagulls on this place called Cliff house. It's located right on the cliff that observes the pacific ocean. I also took a final look at the bridge, but this time from the western side. I'm proud to tell you guys, Zikim beach looks a lot prettier. I'll have to wait and see "La hoja" and "Hollywood" beaches !
