The High Table

My boss (or executive VP as he is officially titled) is a man of vision. On of his great ideas is to hold regular "High Table" dinners such as you might find in an Oxbridge College! Tonight was the first such event. The chosen 135 students were duly trained in "manners" and which knife & fork to use. I suspect a few staff turned down the invitation to attend as I ended up being one of only 5 teachers, not including the High Table themselves, to attend. Given the usual Chinese 12 hours notice I wore my every day clothes and was stunned to see the students dressed to kill in decolletage (girls - ) and fancy suits with silk ties - the boys.

After lengthy & tedious speeches it was interesting to watch the expressions when the first course (prawn & egg salad) was served - everybody looked at their neighbour - "which knife & fork do I use?"
