Sydney beckons us home

Text written in: English

Although our route from Anglesea had been to carry on round the coast to Adelaide, the need for money was hanging over us and then an impromtiou text message from one of our house mates in Chippendale to say there was a spare room finalised our plans to take the road back to Sydney and back home (as such). Although Alex found a job pretty much straight away, I went through that awful pain and agony of rejection for a couple of weeks and to top it all off my ill feeling for the past few weeks had been diagnosed by the doctor as parasites. How comforting!!
Finally, I found a wonderful textile job at Yipose Trading Company, who import and design little girls accessories (a bit like Clare's Accessories in England) and there I stayed for 3 months as a Product Management Assistant/Administrator where I happily designed fairy wings and skirts and jewellery boxes. Thank you Hiromi and Max for a wonderful experience.
We also took time out to see the Hunter valley and to do the Coogee to Bondi walk (a few times) and to see the Mardi Gras festival (in the rain)and the Australia Day fireworks and to taste quite a few $5 steaks at our local, The landsdowne.

Saturday visits to Glebe market and a scary week working for Mcgrath Estate Agents as front desk receptionist and experiencing my first 'real' Chinese food and teas at work and pub crawls down King Street in Newtown and visiting the Hunter Valley with a crazy Ozzie tour guide with long-winded stories and bird whistles and drawing on the windscreen and stopping for morning tea on the Hawkesbury River and standing along the bar knocking back samples of wine and 'Dragons Breath' and following the Mardi Gras carnival in the pouring rain and out for a 'working dinner' at the hotel next to the Olympic Telstra Stadium and our evenings in The Clare Hotel with the grungy TAFE students and daily visits to Bi-Lo and four and half litre boxes of red wine and dinosaur puppetry at the harbourside and the wedding on Bondi beach and a nightly sushi roll fetish and huge bats soaring in the night sky as we jog round the park and swimming in the outdoor pool and the rubbish exhibition at the Art Gallery and watching the Australia Day fireworks with a bottle of VB and about ten thousand Ozzies and The Rocks market with the German bar and sweetcorn on a stick and almost drowning in the waves at Bronte and shopping in the Queen Victoria Building and being dramatically thrown out of our house in Chippendale (landlord sold house) and moving into the worst house in Glebe with a psycho landlord and a couple of shouting matches and a couple of letters under the door and 'happy meals' at the Indian restaurant with $5 chickpea curries and a dollar samosas and hundreds of uniformed men filling the bars on Anzac Day and our excellent friends from our pink Chippendale house with Bruce and Rachel leaving Sydney in their newly acquired green campervan (Lumpi)and Russell coming from Halesowen (the next town to me in England) and knowing most of my school friends and ex's!! and Helen who sings along to the annoying Hungrey Jacks adverts and Mischa the half Russian half German living in London with a Spanish girlfriend who lives in France (!!!)and Irish Dave with his 4 month Aussie girlfriend Jodie who the lads tease about not knowing the name of spiders and watching American Idol on a Sunday and days lazing around Coogee beach and my first Vietnamese at my work leaving meal and being given a 'red envelope' from work as a Chinese tradition and Alex's huge pasta sauces that last a week and bright pink prawn crackers from the Chinese and getting my hair cut at last and a huge Paella at the Spanish restaurant on Glebe Point Road and a ferry across to Balmain.
