Caught the train to Geelong to wait for Lizzie to pick us all up. managed to leave our packs at the station and had a walk along the streets and to the seafront with elongated sculptures of fishermen and bathing girls and had a beer and a feta and chorizo pizza whilst watching the squirming newie waitresses trying to sort themselves out. Bought a bottle of local wine 'with a hint of blackberry' in a beautiful thick glass bottle with a flip-top lid.
Picked up in the family-mobile (same large minibus-type thing) and drove to Anglesea, the start of the Great Ocean Road.
Spending crazy full-volume time with 3 kids and 2 bonus kids (friends) and nights kept awake with girly talk of boys and popstars and princesses. Spent days on the beach and catching yabbies in the dam with pieces of raw meat tied to lengths of string and emptying our catch into the bath and calling the biggest one Saira (well, I did catch it!)and watching the wild kangaroos on the golf course and walking up the most unimaginably steep hill from the village and our first Ozzie BBQ and visiting Lawne and the beautiful coastal drives and the sand-covered carpet and the kids microwavable cheese on toast and throwing the yabbies in the boiling pot until the smell of salty-sea becomes unbearable and collecting twirly shells that were the trapdoors of seasnails and snorkling in the rockpool and looking for the baby shark that apparently lurks in there.
