We took my bike to Moto Angel, Medellin, for few repairs. It was recommended by Paul, our hostal owner, who is also a biker. After 3 weeks on the road and about 1000 miles, here is my list. All on my bike. The Dakar is still fine.
1- Rear brake: the master cylinder was jammed (rear brake jamed on and wearing out) just like on Alistair bike few weeks before we left the UK! Maybe a standard fault on the GS? Got it cleaned and ABS software checked.
2 - Frame bended - after dropping the bikes few times on its left side, the bike's frame was bended. Got it back in shape.
3 - My extra large, fitted by Alex, side stand foot was bended, got it back in shape
4 - Fork seals leaking - Were fairly new. Maybe the mud or the salt causing corrosion that in turn eats the seals. Had 1 seal replaced. Unfortunalety my fancy looking Touratech Fork protectors ar enot protecting form that sort of thing. Should have gone for the fork gaiter like Alistair! Expensive mistake!
5 - The horn does not work anymore - the handle bar button is broken inside and cannot be replaced (no spare parts here for that!). The guys at Moto Angel put an alternative button so that I can use my horn! Essential here!
6 - Back mud guard / chain protectorm in plastic is broken on teh bit that link the mud guard to the chain protector. WE 1st thought to cut the back mid guard as it is pretty useless but the lads at Moto Angel put a fix in place.
Definitely recommend them. Did a good jobm very cheap and very friendly. They deal with lots of overlanders and are used to big bikes.
calle 41 - number 52 - 49 - Medellin
