Today was our first day of truly unstructured time. Unfortunately, by this time, Delhi belly had gotten the better of a couple members of the party and this day afforded them the opportunity to rest in an air-conditioned environment. Others chose to explore the shops of Manju-Ka-Tilla and were able to purchase beautiful rupas, brocade and other items. Lama Tenam, as generous and energetic as ever, offered to return to the National Museum with Steve and Heather as they had missed the first visit. He led us like a pro on Delhi's brand new, pristine subway. What a contrast its stainless steel and air-conditioned platforms were to the hot and dusty streets of Old Delhi, where Tenam-la introduced us to the sights, sounds and smells of this extraordinary place.
In the evening we enjoyed a final group dinner at Himalayan House and later began our separate journeys home.
With inexpressible gratitude for the kindness and
wisdom of The Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche who made possible this journey, this
opportunity to connect with the lineage and to be blessed by the presence of an
enlightened being.
We would also like to thank Drupon Rinpoche for his extraordinary generosity and for being an inspiring example of excellence in administration, which he carries out with such precision and gentleness.
Without Lama Tenam's assistance every step of
the way—in the weeks prior to our departure and each day in India—our
experience would have been much less comfortable and rich. We thank him for his
amazing ability to solve any and every problem.
