It was recommended that Sue and I take the Tren de la Costa to Tigre to experience a different atmosphere. It was a nice relaxing train ride that took us through several beautiful, quaint residential areas, along the river coast and eventually to the country where the Parana River becomes the Rio de la Plata. The train actually drops you off at an amusement park and casino, but a short walk gets you to the fruit market and delta.
We found a little outdoor cafe on the bank of the river where we sat and relaxed with a coffee, watched the pigeons, listened to some live jazz and watched the boats pass by. The river was up, so we couldn't sit right next to the river because every time a boat came by, that area was flooded by the waves. It was very nice!!
Unfortunately, we didn't get there early enough to take a boat ride in and around the delta islands. That is supposed to be a nice day trip into the marsh lands of the delta. In many places in the delta, the river is only a few inches deep, so you can only venture in in specific types of boats. All this reminded me of being in the southeast part of the US. Quite different from BA!
