Oil Slick Beach

Text written in: English

We arrived in Taganga late in the day from Cartegina due to the fact that we had to mess around with the Venezuelan Embassy and couldnt get a taxi to the terminal for over an hour. We ended up at La Casa De Felipe in a dorm room for a night, with the promise of a double the next. Was away from the beach up the hill so had a decent view of sunsets but was a bit of a bastard to walk back to after a long day relaxing at the beach.

That night I organised to do the Lost City tour with a guide who showed up at the hostel. Was due to start on the friday, 2 days from when we arrived which worked out well. The next day was spent relaxing on the beach getting sunburt even though it was cloudy. Still cant work it out, as there was no sun at all, but I am an albino so am not really surprised.

The beach itself is pretty average. The sand is an off white with stray dogs running around the rubbish littered sand. The water was cool but dirty. When you catch a bus to the main town it will go up a hill next to the bay. A line of "slick" is easily visible which put me off a little as well. The quaint little fishing village is the real drawcard but apparently on weekends a restaurant blasts music out from friday afternoon till sunday night non stop from its 2meter high speakers so it loses a little tranquility. Was glad I was on the trek for the weekend.
