So much time has gone by, we are in Hong Kong and it hardly seems possible that we have come so far in such a short space of time.................

 

It really seems like a different world over here, though you are constantly reminded about the not too distant past re colonial days of the Great British Empire. Sometimes I look down the street and think my God I am in Asia, and other times wonder where I am, as everything seems so strange and different.

 

We have been to Macau, a gamblers paradise nearby, only a ferry ride over, so accessible and such a quaint place. Occupied by the Portuguese of all people for over 400 years, handed back to China in 1999, and now turning into an Asian Las Vegas. We had our little gambling tour last night of all the themed hotels, followed by a gorgeous Portuguese restaurant in a cute little side street off the main square. It was just perfect, and so steeped in history, difficult to believe the entire area had been conquered for such a long time, virtually unknown and is now becoming of such major importance.

 

Hong Kong is everything you imagine it to be, pushy shovy, fast and chaotic, rude yet friendly and exciting and welcoming at the same time. I am so glad we came here, I have always wondered what it must be like, and this week has given me a fabulous idea.

 

Tomorrow we plan to go over to the main Island and climb a mountain called the Peak (well almost climb, I  think a train will take us up) and see an amazing view of Hong Kong, sounds amazing though I just wish we could have a little bit of sunshine otherwise no view!!!........................

 

Next stop Beijing, we will be there for 4 days and all is organized through a tour group, so I wonder whether it will be trying on the ol' nerves or nice to have someone do all the work for you? WE will then be in Bangkok, and very soon after that the Mums and Booba arrive for our Grand tour of Asia...... More soon!!!
