I feel so lucky to be able to have these amazing experiences with Jason, seeing such incredible places, meeting such wonderful people, and having such fun. After all the different things we had heard about Punta del Este, some good some bad, I have to say that we were just impressed all the way and had a great time. Sara and Thomas were living in what can only be described as an idylic setting. Sara had warned me that they were living in a castle, but the house has to be seen to be believed. It is huge, has 7 bedrooms, along with about 10 others, and is set right on the most gorgeous beach.
They live about 10 kilometres from the centre, and the house is set back a little from the main road along with 2 or 3 others. I think as I get older my priorities are changing, and the more remote the setting the more appealing the place.
We spent our time relaxing with Sara, having dinners with delicious local wine, and strolling along the beautiful breathtaking beaches which were for the most part deserted.
Uruguay seems a lot less developed than Argentina, in the nicest possible way, the pace of life seems to be slower, less stressful, and generally the people we met were wonderful. Sara is working in one of the most beautiful Pilates studios I have ever seen, and has an elderly boss who is unsure whether or not to keep on the business. I tried as sutterly as possible to encourage Sara to either take over the business should she retire, or open up one of her own. Whatever happens I have a sneeky feeling that we will be going back to Uruguay either to work or to simply visit and hang out with Sara's wonderful family............................................
Back to BA was like coming back to any big fast excting metropolis, only this time in a weird way it felt like coming home, although I know our time here is now drawing to an end, all in all these have been an extremely positive and fun few months. It seems when on a world tour that christmas just keeps happening again and again, and the holiday mood just keeps coming back all the time. As we came back from Punta, I didn't feel that low mood that one gets returning home after a fabulous trip, rather I felt uplifted with so much more to look forward to.
This Wednesday we go to Iguau, it sounds truly amazing, better than Niagara apparently, and sights that will truly make you gasp. We managed to get a really good deal on a hotel for the 4 day trip, 4 star!!! However a little concerning because the travel agent kept saying not to expect a REAL 4 STAR, this one was not what we were used to. (What did she think we were used to???)
My best crazy russian freind is threatening to come to Sydney to visit us (oh vey!), how will Australia cope with him, I don't think they are used to his kind over there (Just joking Genia). He said the KGB has a few more secret tasks for him to complete before he is allowed to leave the UK, must be another one of those spy missions, think he just did one I heard about it all the way over here.
We are busy planning Mum's trip which is appraoching very quickly, I think we're going to be quite busy as we have lots of ideas of great places to take her and exciting things to do. She is flying on here Birthday Dec 12th, so I hope the crew of Alitalia have prepared a cake and are ready to sing happy birthday in Hebrew, not much to ask is it?
I feel as if summer is following us around the globe, but have to remind myself it is the other way round, I never complain when the sun shines, though I think jason finds it a bit harder to chill out in the heat. Spring is ending as the leaves are rapidly falling off the trees, and each day that goes by it feels a little more like summer is on its way, apart from today where the temperature has dropped about 10 degrees.
