Puno and Lake Titikaka

Text written in: English

Today Steph and I took a tour of the islands on the Peru side of the lake. The lake is a lot bigger than I thought it would be and it's also very cold. I was obviously in the summer mood when I packed because I am freezing here and had to buy warm clothes. The lake is also very very blue. I was impressed (obviously I haven't been to any tropical islands lately as this is the clearest water i can ever remember). We first stopped at the Uros Islands where the Islanders literally live on floating islands that they made out of reed from the lake. I still can't understand why people would chose to live on a floating island with nothing to do but entertain the tourists but good for them. We then took the slowest boat ride of my life to Taquile Island where we hiked up and down the island (over 500 stairs down). We met the people of the island and had a delicious lunch. It was very intersting but I am glad that I live on dry land.
